CDL A CASUAL DRIVERS HOURLY PAY

Casual pickup and delivery drivers are on call for work as needed by the local terminal.  Local management determines work schedule.

Description

BASIC REQUIREMENTS/FUNCTION:
Experience: Minimum 3 years of P&D driving or equivalent experience. Class A license, Hazmat endorsement, and physical ability to lift 75 lbs.Skills:Able to effectively and professionally interact with demanding customers. Knowledge of route area and/or ORD forwarder areas. Capable of making inside deliveries as directed by dispatcher. Advanced skills: Able to peddle, do pickups and spot trailers as assigned. Able to flex into 4 to 5 different routes as required. Understands MAWB, HAWB paperwork and ORD Forwarder requirements. Able to run sort distribution freight as required including the use of specific scanners. Regularly uses Nextel to post departures and arrivals as well as POD information. Delivers and picks up freight as assigned/dispatched in an efficient, effective, safe, and timely manner. Ensures proper, accurate, complete and timely processing of related paperwork, etc. as required in support of position duties/responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Promotes and maintains a flexible, cooperative, positive, team oriented and customer focused attitude within and between departments/terminals. Provides, promotes and maintains positive, effective customer relations and projects a professional business image and demeanor at all times. Keeps Dispatchers informed of any delays longer than five (5) minutes duration. Ensures all paperwork is complete, accurate, legible and processed in a timely manner. Follows DOT and CFR regulations/requirements. Promotes and helps maintain a safe and secure working environment. Drives and handles freight in a safe and responsible manner. Handles freight loading/unloading/rearranging, etc. as required at terminal and/or dispatch locations. Keeps supervisor informed of pertinent issues, information, etc. warranting their attention, knowledge, action and/or resolution. Performs complete tractor-trailer pre- and post-trip inspections for all vehicles driven on a daily basis. Ensures driver inspection reports and logs are accurately completed in a timely manner. Other duties as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Skills
Proven ability to work positively and effectively in a fast-paced, changing-priority, and stressful environment.
Must possess positive customer relations and customer service skills with a professional image.
Possesses and maintains all required and/or valid licenses or certifications.
Must be able to pass driving and drug/alcohol tests per D.O.T. and/or Company requirements.
Proven experience in driving commercial motor vehicles.
Has strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Physically able to handle required loading/unloading and rearranging of freight as required.
Able to read maps and possesses proper maps for the route.
