Responsible for timely & accurate delivery of product to customers. Pick up back-hauls from vendors. Ensure load integrity, handle equipment, product returns and required paperwork.
Description
Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs pre & post trip inspections of vehicle utilizing knowledge of safe and effective loading/handling procedures. Reviews paperwork for completeness and accuracy. Checks orders for correct number of boxes, correct addresses & support documentation.
Completes time cards, enters trip data into on-board computer & completes paper logs if necessary. Complies with FMCSA regulations.
Delivers & unloads products utilizing equipment including tractor trailer, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars and other devices. Verifies piece count, leaves appropriate paperwork and secures the required signatures and store stamps on delivery documents.
Reports any accident immediately to the Trans Mgr/Dept.
Keeps vehicles well maintained, safe, and secure. Reports any defects promptly using DVIR form.
Picks up supplies and back hauls from vendors. Completes related paperwork.
Addresses and resolves customer problems as appropriate.
Attends mandatory drivers meetings, training or administrative sessions as required.
Maintains the Company s professional reputation to customers, the public and company employees.
Assumes other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and a valid state specific Commercial Drivers License, Class A, and a clear driving record.
Ability to pass a written exam and road test.
Basic knowledge of DOT and FMCSA laws and mandates.
Require at least one year tractor trailer driving experience.
Must be at least 23 years of age.
Must be able to work local & multi-day overnight routes
Must be able to work a flexible route schedule including weekends & holidays
Ability to communicate verbally and in written form to internal associates and externally to customers.
Safe driving skills, ability to drive large tractor trailers and ability to use forklift and related delivery equipment.
Ability to read maps and written directions.
Ability to pass a post-offer employment physical and drug test and subsequent enrollment in a random pool of drivers for drug and alcohol testing as required by law.
Strong Interpersonal, communication, organizational & customer service skills.
Previous Food Distribution experience preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
