A local Global Leader has recently expanded and in need of a Fixture Repair Technician.
Description
This position is responsible primarily for the troubleshooting, adjustment and repair of weld fixtures to assure the manufacture of welded assemblies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1) Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the TS16949 and ISO 14001 Operating Manuals as they relate to the job function.
2) Reviews work orders and related manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tasks to be performed for manufacture and repair of gages and fixtures.
3) Troubleshoots gages and fixtures to determine ability to check/produce parts to specification.
4) Performs repair/replacement of fixture details and components.
5) Manufactures replacement details and components for fixtures and gages through milling, drilling, and various other machining methods.
6) Inspects and adjusts, repairs and replaces various hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components.
7) Tests and replaces sensors, as necessary.
8) Tests fixtures and gages to assure repairs have corrected manufacturing discrepancy.
9) Creates documentation of work performed and recommends actions for improvements.
10) Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Journeyman Tool Maker or Journeyman Machinist with 3 years experience or Non-Journeyman with classes in machining, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and machine theory plus 5 years related experience in fixture repair or tool repair.
Experience, education or training which demonstrates a basic knowledge of machining processes, and the ability to use drill presses, mills and other types of associated machine tools.
Knowledge of various machining operations, accepted machine trade methods and techniques.
Knowledge of manual and robotic welding processes as well as applying knowledge of various manual mig and tig welding processes as related to the effect on fixture design and adjustment..
Knowledge of machining operations to manufacture, modify, and repair parts, support equipment, tools and assemblies.
Skill and ability to lay out work, read and interpret blueprints and technical publications, design and draw working sketches, make special tools, dies, jigs and fixtures, perform production work of automotive parts, and work to tolerances varying from .010 to .0005 inch.
Knowledge and ability to compare machine parts with drawings, technical orders, or specifications for conformance with established tolerances, fits, and surface finish.
Knowledge of various types of sensors, cylinders, clamping devices and hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical requirements.
