Machine Supervisor

Description

Machine Supervisor -Controls and directs activities of the department personnel according to daily production requirements by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
*      Supervises staff engaged in operational activities on designated shift; accountable for the performance of tasks.
*      Sets and prioritizes daily activities of department staff on designated shift; establishes or adjusts work procedures to support the production schedules as well as implementing and maintaining lean manufacturing and 5
*S? principles.
*      Evaluates work performance, provides regular feedback, and administers performance evaluations of staff on designated shift.
*      Involved in interviewing, hiring and selecting candidates
*      Administers counseling and corrective action of the department’s employees.
*      Trains and instructs employees in proper techniques for given operations or jobs.
*      Plans/provides direction to employees for the preparation of upcoming jobs; ensures that equipment and parts are ready.
*      Schedules product flow between departments, reviews operational documentation for accuracy, reviews prior days production output and makes corrections as needed, and verifies daily time keeping records.
*      Assist CAM programmers with proving out new programs and manufacturing fixtures, also troubleshooting problems and re-programming existing programs to keep products flowing throughout the facility.
*      Turns in weekly scraps reports to the Quality dept in a timely manner, and completes daily shipping list as needed.
*      Orders supplies for departments and works in conjunction with outside suppliers and contractors as needed.
*      Ensures housekeeping and Safety Standards are met.
*      Works with department leaders on production issues and communicates with other departments as needed to resolve issues.
*      Actively involved in Start-Up meetings.
*      Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
*      Additional duties as requested by management.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
*      Schedules daily activities of machine department.
*      Leads machine department staff.
*      Moves staff
*upstream? or
*downstream? as needed or requested.
*      Reviews prior days production output and makes corrections as needed.
*      Attends daily ship meetings as needed.
*      Assists in evaluating work performance of staff and administers performance evaluations.
*      Oversees training of machining work cell staff.
*      Maintains housekeeping and safety standards in machine dept.
*      Work with department cell leaders on production issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the overall supervision of two (2) or more employees, in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Accountable for interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and rewarding performance; disciplining; suspending and discharging employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Strong supervisor experience a must.
