JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:

Mechanical Designer for 4-6 week assignment, part- or full-time.  Work for a small, well-established design firm specializing in fueling-facility design, including gasoline/diesel and compressed natural gas.  Develop and produce design drawings in AutoCAD MEP 2009 and Revit.  Lay out equipment, piping and conduit for CNG, gasoline and diesel fueling facilities.  Produce plans, bills of material, design details, piping diagrams, electrical single-line diagrams and panel schedules under the direction of the engineer or project manager.  Incorporate markups and other revisions called for by the engineer or project manager.  Incorporate drawing backgrounds, reference drawings and details from other project team members/firms.  Co-ordinate design work with other (off site) design firms on the project team.

Occasional travel to visit job sites to perform take-offs and document as-built equipment and piping.  Assist in performing inspections of facilities under construction or newly completed.  Assist in conducting performance tests and condition audits of existing fueling facilities.

Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years of experience performing mechanical or electrical drafting in AutoCAD.  Also must have experience with MS Word and Excel.  Experience in piping design.  Good English-language skills as needed to communicate verbally and in writing with clients and other design-firm professionals.  Interest in and enthusiasm for, the design of mechanical equipment.  Possession of a California Drivers License, ownership of an automobile, ability to work in West Los Angeles (some telecommuting is possible) and the ability to occasionally travel to job sites in the metro-Los Angeles region.  Prefer experience in developing design drawings in teams of multiple firms.  Preference for experience with Revit in addition to AutoCAD, as well as experience designing and drafting simple HVAC systems.
