Detailed Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for providing project management services for a specific area / department or projects assigned. Ensures that the company’s best interests are represented in all aspects of the project including profitability and cost control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for managing assigned projects from startup to closeout. Tracks costs and identifies potential problems while minimizing risk to the Company. Prepares, reviews, distributes, and/or maintains all required project documentation. Ensures Company policies and guidelines are followed.
Reviews scope of work, plans, bill of material, blue prints, product literature, contract, and other relevant project documents to verify job specifics and identify potential problems. Meets with the Contractor, Superintendent, Forman, and customer/client to verify specific aspects of the project.
Supervises assigned project staff, overseeing work performed and providing guidance and assistance, as needed. Assists in training Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.
In Cooperation with the Superintendents, may schedule and coordinate manpower for the project.
Prepares Monthly profit projection.
Prices, bids, and/or estimates jobs. Orders equipment and materials, as needed. Reviews, creates, and negotiates change orders. Monitors job costs and labor consumption to ensure profitability for the Company.
Builds client relationships while monitoring and pursuing bidding opportunities. Determines bid proposal requirements, prepares and presents proposals to customers/clients.
Attends project meetings with owners, architects, general contractors, and others involved in the projects. Interacts effectively with clients, contractors, management, and other employees while promoting a positive customer service environment and positive work climate.
EQUIPMENT USED
Computer and other computer related equipment and appropriate software such as Word, Excel, Document Control Software, AccuBid and contract scheduling program to access and input information. Uses calculator, telephone, fax, scale master (engineering and electric scales), and other office equipment, as appropriate. Uses vehicle to visit job sites and meet with clients, contractors, and others.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
May have a BA/BS Degree in project management, construction, electrical design and theory, or degree in related field; may have 2 years experience as a Project Manager Trainee or related project management experience; may have 4 years field experience as a journeyman electrician, Foreman, or similar area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE
Solid understanding of the industry including knowledge of electrical codes and installation methods. Thorough knowledge of contract scheduling, material lead times, product knowledge, and installation durations.
