Maintenance Coordinator for East Chicago OBJECTIVE
To administer and coordinate the execution activities of the mechanical, electrical, and mobile equipment maintenance activities. In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the value of all Company assets at the East Chicago plant through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines.
As part of the plant management team, the incumbent also has a contribution regarding the establishment of plant policies and procedures concerning the maintenance department and general operations. The incumbent has a responsibility to develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations between the maintenance employees and other departments.
NATURE AND SCOPE
* Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
* Responsible for all plant and mobile equipment maintenance. Therefore, must be capable of analyzing and forecasting electrical and mechanical requirements so that effective planning and work scheduling by subordinates can be accomplished in a cost effective, timely and satisfactory manner in order to achieve plant production goals. To do this he/she must be and remain informed of all plant operations and, through effective communication with operations personnel, and be able to provide a positive contribution to the overall operation of the plant.
* Contributes to all work being completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner by coordinating the activities of the Inspection, Planning and Execution functions of the Alpena maintenance organization
* Minimizing the impact on production, the Maintenance Coordinator schedules, coordinates, and oversees the Plant’s mechanical and electrical maintenance activities.
* Establishes the Maintenance Department’s daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules based on information from 4 sources - specific requests, the preventive maintenance program, inspection, and predictive based work orders.
* Responsible for developing an effective maintenance organization and defining the manning level to see that the maintenance management systems are properly installed.
* Develops and manages systems to administer and control the use of contractors in the mechanical and electrical areas.
* Establishes realistic performance objectives and provides ongoing review of performance for subordinates.Responsible for developing a competent, effective staff through effective leadership and sound personnel administration which includes selection, training and development, performance appraisal, and discipline. Must develop and maintain excellent relations with employees and stimulate high morale of staff and employees by inspiring confidence through personal contact, managing by participative practices and encouraging employee involvement.
* Responsible for ensuring the safety of all subordinate employees by ensuring employees are trained in safe work practices. Ensures that regular safety meetings are held and leads by example.
* Makes systematic usage of group manufacturing results to benchmark the progress of the department’s cost and reliability performance.
* Budget responsibility for contractor work and overtime.
* Responsible for investigation of new methods and procedures that will improve manpower and maintenance efficiencies.

Educational Background : A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field is preferred.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years related experience in a heavy industry/steel environment, sufficient to understand the work to be coordinated
